John Peri 1,039 Posted November 29, 2003 You look very interesting Anne, let's see some of your work too. I'm sure it will be equally so. Link to comment
fya 0 Posted November 29, 2003 Excellent, high impact image. I really like the cropping and the subject angle. Good use of blur...more than emphasizing movement it seems to heighten the drama of the shot. Link to comment
bikash_gangadharan2 0 Posted November 30, 2003 Thats a really good self potrait. I was wondering how u did it. The following questions arise in my mind. 1. (Obviously this is a timer shot) What did you focus on before triggering the shot? 2. Could the lack of a proper focus point have created the blur? 3. How did you avoid creation of shadows in the background Link to comment
tbonemah 0 Posted November 30, 2003 Wow....nice camera! Why did you miss it with your plane of focus? :) Link to comment
Ray House 4,535 Posted November 30, 2003 A very original and well done self portrait. Use of blur and composition very nice. Link to comment
james_oneill 0 Posted November 30, 2003 Well I must be one of them then. In theory there are a lot of things wrong with the picture, but the overall effect is really nice. Link to comment
designed 0 Posted November 30, 2003 Well done Anne, this shot really jumps out and grabs you. Very creative. Looking forward to seeing more of your work. Link to comment
the grey house 0 Posted November 30, 2003 Anne, wonderful self portrait. I love the pose, the blur effect works very well. Great portfolio, love all 3 shots - I look forward to seeing more of your work. Link to comment
a wolf 0 Posted December 1, 2003 I love the picture ....it seems like every picture i end up liking here on photo.net was made by a woman! and then i end up finding out its a picture of the photographer like here also!! .....(by the way Anne there is nothing wrong with picture) for everyone else ...the effect can be done with photoshops motion blur effect and then you can select any area you wish to be in focus .... Anne keep up the great work and lets see more!! (PS i love those old twin lens 2 1/4 cameras for shooting B/W ........) Link to comment
martin_paul 0 Posted December 1, 2003 Very nice indeed. Dynamic feeling to it. Well done Anne! Link to comment
I have to admit, the first time I looked at this I really thought the model (you) were a plastic store window type, and not real? Maybe it's the makeup and eye liner, and the dead-ahead gaze. Anyway, you look good. My only comment is that you should re-take the picture with the Rolleiflex rather than the Canon. Link to comment
daniel vinklars lefteye. 0 Posted December 1, 2003 This a great picture! and I like it very much. Regards, daniel Link to comment
erikj 0 Posted December 1, 2003 I have 2 disrelated comments First, this would be a great shot if the plane of focus was somewhere that made sense (even if the entire shot were a blur). I am sure you are not trying to draw the viewer's eyes to the camera strap. Second, I think that the 2nd comment is hilarious. By "you look interesting" he of course means you are GORGEOUS and he wants to see more self portraits, I'm sure. Good luck. Link to comment
jeff d 1 Posted December 2, 2003 I once commented on the weight of one of John Peri's models. I regret that comment to this date. My comment was similar to yours. It is insensitive, and shows judgement on your part. I retracted mine, please do the same. Link to comment
jerrymat 5 Posted December 2, 2003 If the blur was done in camera, my interpretation is that you were rotating your face and body with the axis of rotation in the region of the strap, while you used a slow shutter speed(1/15th sec?) The effect is quite mysterious and interesting. Link to comment
gianfranco_vialli 0 Posted December 2, 2003 When I first saw this photo I thought the subject matter shows a beautiful model turning the table on the photographer and that she isnt the one doing the photo. How interesting to see an elegent woman being the shooter when she is herself should really be the subject of attention for many photographers. It seems a small area in the centre are in focus while the rest of the image is blurred, did you use PS? The only thing I didnt like was your hand look massive due to the angle. Link to comment
