eden a. 0 Posted August 6, 2001 I took this shot of a fairly new child model in AZ recently, using available light. I was trying for less staged/obviously posed images, that captured the childs look while also showing some mood/environment (without getting so artistic that the shots wouldnt be viable in her portfolio). I'd appreciate any feedback on the image, &/or suggestions to improve my results on future shoots with child models. I also have a second similar image of the model smiling in a *slightly* different pose in the 'Tori' folder within my portfolio. If anyone would care to comment on which of these two similar images they prefer (and why) that would also be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Link to comment
quebin 0 Posted August 8, 2001 I don't think 'candid' applies here. Its still a posed model in a controlled background/environment with controlled parameters. Candid or semi-candids would be persons who were not directed in any fashion in an ever-changing environment. Picture-wise, I personally might have tried moving to a different shooting direction. The light on the ground in back is a little distracting, as is the overhanging leaf in the right foreground. I like the girl's expression, though, and that she's inside the pot, pretty clever. On a more digital note, this jpg was huge, over 247k and I could not see the entire picture at one time w/o scrolling. I think you should scale the pics for display on a 15-17" monitor, and adjust your compression/quality to generate a smaller file size. Link to comment
eden a. 0 Posted August 9, 2001 Actually it was more candid than posed. I had been changing film and she was waiting for me to finish, rather oblivious to me when I grabbed this shot. Link to comment
ruth_christie 0 Posted March 4, 2002 If you don't mind a comment from an amateur - the little girl looks lovely. Beautiful skin and hair, nice relaxed expression but the fact she looks buried in bark mulch is strange; it confuses me and distracts me from her. The foliage is lovely. It compliments to her hair. Her in the foliage in some other way would be great. Very nice focus and light on her. Link to comment
