Island Storm at Dusk

vincetylor

Taken last Summer. Used a tripod and cable release for maximum depth as well as to get some water movement. This has not been made into a print yet, but am thinking it over. Your comments and opinions are always appreciated. www.hawaiianphotos.net

That's my man Trevor's way of saying he likes me. Where do you come up with these adjectives...."Shrimp colored sky and surf", "I can see one color: blood red", "quintessentially lurid colours", "lethal combination of Velvia & Polariser" etc etc??

Admittedly, I did get too close...twice. But I am still a kickin....and a clickin!

"Blood Red"? Um, I don't know whose blood you've been looking at Vincent, but this is decidedly shrimpy! The thing that spoils it for me is that it is all shrimp, with the only break for the eyes to rest upon being the dark rocks and landline. Past the swamping colour however, the compositional placements of the rocks and the sweeping lines of the sea draw the viewer into the water like a magnet. The clouds replicating similar patterns as a 'mirror' effect in the water are a very appealing aspect, as is the motion, and the light breaking through the clouds can't be overlooked either. Nice to see an unphotoshopped picture on the TRP's :)

This is sooooo beautiful. I could write you some comments on this one but I don't. I like this as it is and my first impression is ...WOW!!! Love the colours! Regards and greetings from The Netherlnads,

ewwwww

soooooo pink

get real

shrimp barbque anyone?

Yessss, I have bin dare done dat. Why the ugly toning??? when Hawaii is such a beautifull place.

I fail to see the mirror effect mentioned by G. I see out of focus rocks in the foreground and cry for the desparate image shown to any who has not been to the Islands and actually seen the sea.

For you to show us this shrimp image of Hawaii is to me, a mockery of the real scenic beauty available in your Islands. Go shoot me some volcanic rocks, and some real sea, and surf. Have you ever seen a banjan tree?

Ok, how's that? To put it more gentilely, why in the world did you use this toning? Is this the real color of Hawaii? If we expect to see this when visiting your Islands we are going to be sadly disappointed. Unless of course we all wear our rose colored glasses all the time.

For the record this is a sunset shot. The colors often turn an orange-red-yellow combination when this very common occurance does happen. (every 24 hours) Perhaps the tones are more "shrimp-like" on this day...maybe tomorrow lobster-like....even possibly blood-red one day. Who knows...it is what it is. Thanks!

PS- The rocks are dark because they are black and it is the end of the day...however, they are not out of focus.

Aloha Khoury!

Do make it a print and sell it like hot chocolate cakes in wintery NY!

As for the warmton BW polarizer I am delighted as i am delighted with the greens of the Velvia 100 in dark and rainy days...

Have you senn my folder of Portugal with my first try at Velvia 100?

Excellent landscape. Great mood and color. Nicely exposed. I wish during composition you had selcted a better cut point in the foreground without cropping few rocks in their middle as it is slightly distracting but this minor thing is in no way decreasing the high aesthetic value of the picture.

Excellent work.

Kind regards.
