My first question is how did you get close enough to get this picture. You've taken the cover off the string section and given us a glimpse of its inner works. Surprising and well done as always.

Hello Jack: My hat is off for your very sensitive and accurate description. It happened to be a quartet in the lobby of a hotel, with so many tourists oblivious of the professional efforts to produce "music" (oh such a special thing), I rather tired to capture their pure honesty just behind some pots with small palms. DG, to me, this image captures the essence of musicians who are so comfortable making music with each other that it's impossible to differentiate the individuals from the group, and the group from the individuals. All for one, one for all. The dynamism here is mesmerizing. - - My best always, mhl

Hello Michael: Thank you for your comments and for your kindness in taking a moment to see what an image can transmit. The story behind this sad and a bit pathetic (to me, at least) and melancholic quartet playing in the lobby of a hotel, with barely anyone paying attention to their artful and musical creations, walking by nonchalantly. What I tried to capture here was the professionalism of these fine musicians, playing no matter what- only making sure they are in tune with each other, talking their silent language of music - with the surrounding noise acting as an acoustic hemisphere, instead of quiet concert halls. A most intriguing cultural phenomenon. DG
