Gerald Cafferty 91,805 Posted October 30, 2018 I like the composition and inter-generational interaction works well to suggest a story. The only negative is that I feel there's a lack of contrast, I see no whites.................Regards GC.
Ken Ratcliffe 111,347 Posted October 30, 2018 GC, thanks for your visit and kind comment. Yes a lack of contrast, this was taken looking out to sea with bright sunlight (the camera exposed accordingly), this resulted with the two faces being hidden in the shadows and very dark. My pp work included reducing the contrast and some dodge tool work to make the faces visible, all quite intentional and without which the subjects would have been lost. Best regards Ken.
michaellinder 16,614 Posted October 30, 2018 Ken, I may be totally fantasizing, but I seem to remember this window, the wall behind it, and the seascape behind the wall from a previous image of yours. Regardless . . . I'm in full agreement with GC about the intergenerational nature of the interaction in this scene, but I must disagree about the lack of contrast. Granted the contrast I see is somewhat minimal, there are areas of highlights in the wall, especially between the bricks. To me, that at least helps with the tonal range. Otherwise, I find the composition and perspective to be entirely fitting for this image. Also, the detail is quite sharp. - - My best, michael

No you are not fantasising, I spend a lot of time at this location throughout the year and take many photos, I try to make people the subject and use the location as a backdrop to enhance the scene. Best regards Ken.
