j_gao 0 Posted November 19, 2003 Here's another photo for the rice paddies in southwest China. Comments are welcome Link to comment
stp 6 Posted November 19, 2003 Wonderful patterns, and I think there are sufficient trees at the bottom to give it perspective. Link to comment
tc_reed 0 Posted November 19, 2003 Ditto what Stephen said! Very cool looking! I'm stunned by the patterns. Wow! Link to comment
alethea_hollis 0 Posted November 19, 2003 I liked your colour shot of the same area, and this one is stunning in black and white. Alethea Link to comment
kent_tolley2 0 Posted November 19, 2003 It's probably personal. I like the color better. Maybe because it accentuates the difference between each little pool because they are all different colors. Because there are fewer distinct shades in this, it does not have as much texture. Link to comment
andyr 0 Posted November 19, 2003 This is a lovely image. The best bit for me is the subtle changes in shade of the water in the paddies on the left- those on the right are mostly pure white and therefore less interesting. I'd love to see a composition that concentrated on those gradations of grey. Link to comment
devotee 0 Posted November 20, 2003 A great shot. Radiant and abstract resolving satisfyingly to the familiar. Link to comment
michael_wagner2 0 Posted November 21, 2003 Fabulous image!! I think B/W is the ideal format for this! Link to comment
notasitis 0 Posted November 21, 2003 Very unsettling. Looks like the land is dissolving or melting away. Lovely! Link to comment
maxli 0 Posted November 22, 2003 I think the b/w one is way better than the color one. I don't know if it is the scanning change the original color because if the picture of rice paddies (Ti Tian) in Yunan and Guizhou was taken in the dawn or dusk, the color should be much more vivid than the one in your folder. Check this link http://cameraunion.net/photo/showphoto.php?photoid=35904 and http://www.cameraunion.net/photo/showphoto.php?photoid=36961 It's a chinese website, but the pictures are worth viewing. seven 0 Posted November 9, 2004 This is an excellent study of rice paddies, superb patterns veer off towards the realm of abstraction : perhaps because of the desaturation. I'd like it toned down in the brighter areas but appreciate that might be due to viewing it on a different platform.Fine composition. Link to comment
markboyer 0 Posted April 10, 2005 Incredible natural abstract, and brilliant use of B&W. Link to comment
bill_gibson2 0 Posted March 20, 2008 This photograph has wonderful texture and makes one marvel at the time and human effort necessary to construct these rice paddies. Link to comment
