mini_me_ 0 Posted November 17, 2003 This is lovely, Hannah. I would like to see just a little more detail in the leaves which would entail taking from a slightly higher angle. However, this angle works for me also. Link to comment
richard_wilkins 0 Posted November 17, 2003 Beautiful! This effect of turning water to silk is very appealing to me. I've been thinking of taking my camera down to the beach and trying this technique. You seem to have it mastered! After looking at this pic for some time, I realized I would like to see more streaks of orange and yellow... maybe in another picture,eh? Still, this is a beautiful picture --- nice balance of light & dark. You've done a good job at communicating a "mood". Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted November 17, 2003 I must try this effect sometime. Of course, down here in Texas, I don't see those brilliant colors in the leaves! Nice capture! Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted November 17, 2003 MiniMe, Richard, and Kim, thanks for commenting. I've returned here several times under various conditions and using ever longer exposures, but I think I'm far from having it mastered when I see some of the water scenes on PN. This stream is under low overhanging trees so I spent some time crawling under and over branches and sitting on soggy banks. Next attempt will be the snow stream, if we ever get any snow. davidroossien 0 Posted November 17, 2003 Looks wonderful. The large cluster of leaves in the middle and left makes the frame come alive. Sometimes it's tough to decide how much water and how much of the leaves to include, but you have the right balance. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted November 18, 2003 Hanna, I think you've got the exposure just about right. What time of day did you end up shooting this? Great colors to accentuate the water flow. Link to comment
jfochoa 0 Posted November 18, 2003 Hi, Hanna this is a beautiful shot. Very good colours. Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted November 18, 2003 Robert, I guess it must have been about 4:00 pm with bright overcast conditions and fairly dense growth around it. I've realized I have to shoot in full manual with the smallest aperture to get a long enough exposure at this time of day. Thanks for having a look. Link to comment
mclaine 0 Posted November 18, 2003 I see you've been down to the creek again Hanna. This is a lovely result! Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted November 19, 2003 Hi John, thanks for stopping. This is a different stream and much tamer than the one I first attempted. That is raging right now after record rains. I'll have to get my hip waders out and try it again soon. Link to comment
frank_whittle1 0 Posted November 19, 2003 Glad I didn't see this until now, I might have been accused of copying! ;-)Nice shot, yours has got more going for it than mine. :-( http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=1909730 Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 24, 2003 Pretty shot. I think your capture of it is excellent. Link to comment
scotshot 0 Posted March 5, 2005 Hi, I find this type of shot dificult to master, it looks great in the veiwfinder but when i get the slides back well lets just say mine don't look as good as this. A very good shot with good exposure and composition. Well done. Jim. Link to comment
