The predominance of shadow in this image initially gave me the impression that the woods it portrays are menacing and/or threatening to the poor soul who wanders into them. Indeed, some might think that the image was your way, Tony, of characterizing Halloween. Yet, my first impression was not altogether the best one. In the bottom left, there is a burst of sunlight shining through the trees; and elsewhere there are a few hints of highlights on the rocks and trees. I see myself proceeding, albeit with some trepidation, to move from the darkness into the light. It may not have been your intent to provide such a powerful allegory, but that's the result you achieved. And, what's more, it's a universal message. - - My best always, michael

Fantastic post processing. A very powerful image that capture my attention immediately, grabbed me and made me stare and look at it with care and attention. A true feat. Quite unique! I will definitely add it to my favorites! Congratulations. DG

Interesting to hear the feelings you experienced Michael. Ty Canol woods is an ancient woodland full of interesting distortions/contortions. Shot with fisheye which I found accentuated the distortion and introduced what feels to me a sense of movement, panic. Perhaps the trees are responding to the loss of light as the sun goes down.

Thanks for taking time to look Daniel. Much appreciated. I bought Canons 8-15mm fisheye zoom a couple of years ago and am just beginning to explore its creative potential. Here I took an 8mm circular image and converted it to rectilinear using Canons lens profile. This left some distortion and also blurring which I see as motion blur. Used PS Oil paint to tidy up the blur and give more fluidity/motion. Converted to BW to emphasise the form/motion and extremes of light and dark.

Hello Anthony: Thank you very much for the time you took to provide details on this truly unique image. I sincerely appreciate you sharing your process with me. It seems to me that with this sole image, your investment in the Fisheye is fully amortized. And your post-processing is impeccable. I continue to admire this very subjective and powerful, beautiful Photograph (note capital P). Thanks again and I truly look forward to see more of your work. Kind regards. DG
