HermanRoes 6 Posted September 16, 2017 Holger, I love your B&W work and I love to see an old fashioned bar. No better place to have a good talk and enjoy the presence of your relatives. Thank you for sharing your work Kind regards, Herman Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted September 16, 2017 Certainly not a well captured image from a technical point of view but I was after the atmosphere of the place. Your comments are warmly welcomed, thanks for looking. Link to comment

michaellinder 16,613 Posted September 18, 2017 Holger, you just transported me back in time to when I worked as a carbonic engineer (a/k/a soda jerk). It didn't happen in a candy store; it was in my father-in-law's restaurant. Thanks to him, I can brag about the egg creams I still can make. - - - You wanted atmosphere, and you got it. To me, aside from the appearance of the stools, counter, etc., it results from the tones progressing left to right, from bright to dark. There is no reason for you to apologize. - - michael Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted November 3, 2017 Yes, not too many places like this anymore Holger. I do like your POV and your edit. Good detail and you edit seems to be just right to convey the atmosphere of the time period. When I was a child there was a Drug Store across the road from our Apartment. We lived above a Hair Dresser's Salon. At the back of the Pharmacy, they had a 'Soda Fountain'.............with chairs very similar.........old but not too me back then. Dad treated us every so often to a 'visit there'. Have to say that the iPhones do take excellent shots these days! Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted November 4, 2017 Gail thank you for your observations and comment. Sometimes I think and wish there were more places like this, but I suppose that's showing my age. Thanks again, see you soon......Holger Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted November 4, 2017 I like this one a lot, Holger, especially the angle of the shot and the slightly stark tones. The line of stools give a very nice rhythm to the shot. Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted November 5, 2017 Thank you Jack, the place transported me to another time and place and I only had an iphone to capture the moment, but I am very pleased that people could see and relate to the capture. Thanks for all your support my friend. See you soon..............Holger Link to comment
