Other than having her stand out better from the background, is there

anything else I could have done to make this better?

Anyone got any cropping ideas?

Thanks for looking.

I find the cropping appropriate. Some space in front of her adds to the picture. Difficult to find an appropriate background contrasting both with the white face and with the black hair, I think you did well here.

I have the same comments as Michele. I like the way the background colors are similar to the kimono colors and her hair. It makes for a rich image made primarily of greys with color highlights. Wonderful.

I generally prefer square crop for portrait but this one has nothing to be cut... as Illka would say ... kekko ii desu

great details, sharp and expressive...

You could do a close crop (some off the top and some off the right) so that she's right in the corner and partially cropped, but I really do like it this way. It's a striking image with the contrast of her face and neckline against the background.

Nice portrait. I like the fact that you left space to the right of the Maiko, showing some of Kyoto's traditional architecture. It's a little distracting that she is looking so far away from the viewer, but then again, it adds some mystery to the image.
