Extremely close lightning, early morning on May 30th, 2001 near El Reno, OK.
Taken after a long day of storm chasing, this photo is not a particularily GOOD lightning photograph, but I find it interesting because of how darn close the lightning stroke contacted the ground. If you look closely you can see shadows from the hay bails on the ground. One of the closest lightning strikes I've witnessed. The lightning channel is washed because I did not have the aperture small enough for lightning this close, as I was not anticipating being only a few hundred feet from a strike.
