john falkenstine 1 Posted November 5, 2003 The pictures are very grainy and soft. Large sections in the foregroud are underexposed. What is needed here is a fill flash, or perhaps a better film. Link to comment
smittyatthebeach 0 Posted November 6, 2003 Thanks for the comment. The grain was intentional. Link to comment
think27 0 Posted December 18, 2003 I personally like some grainy images and often use 3200 speed rated from 800 to 1600 primarily and yet sometimes even rate it at 3200. The concerns here, however, has to to with lighting as far as I can see. The shadow - Especially on women...needs to be softer. Also especially on a bride. One trick I love is this. Often the "window" shot can be done in the bedroom.. Often the sheets on the bed are white... Lift the white sheet and let the sunlight bounce back in and soften those shadows. Or...A reflector or a tiny bit of fill flash. What especially bothers me is that the flowers are a big black blob...as well as her arm is actually black towards the bottom. Also -- there is a square (light switch?) behind her head. I'd have moved her forward a bit. Sometimes it is difficult if you are photographing the bride at her house.. I arrive early and check all the windows and if I don't see what I like - I don't do "the window shot"... I'll shoot her in a doorway or outside... Good luck.. My comments are made to help and hopefully I've been constructive. Link to comment
