tripanfal 3 Posted November 4, 2003 This is my second shot using an arrow and sound trigger attached to a flash. Suggestions welcome. Link to comment

dave_nitsche 0 Posted November 5, 2003 Steve Strawn would probably dig this very much. Of course his images come to mind the second I see something like this. By any chance are you using the 'time machine' sound trigger or did you build your own? I would like to see a little more original use of the trigger though. An arrow going threw the glass is real cool but I have seen like shots with bullets for a while. Aesthetically this shot can't be beat. How about instead of centered and straight on, shoot it overhead? Looking up at it? How about a blasting shutter speed (if possible) and capture the arrow in flight? Your cam might not allow that. Not familiar with the 602. Just some thoughts. Nice capture. Dave Link to comment
tripanfal 3 Posted November 5, 2003 Dave, Great ideas. I am VERY new to this, I have always found it interesting though. I have a small page with my technique and where I got the trigger. http://mysite.verizon.net/tripanfal/Index.htm Thanks for the kind words and I plan on doing some different things in the future. I find it difficult to create images that are not like others seen before. Link to comment
christopher_smith5 0 Posted November 5, 2003 Well done. I really enjoyed your shots of the eggs on your website. It was interesting reading about your efforts to create these shots. Link to comment
pawel_stefaniak 0 Posted November 5, 2003 Wery good! I invite to my arrow flight photo:) Link to comment
greg_stone1 0 Posted November 5, 2003 Nice color and composition. I too would like to see something different though, as previously suggested, may be a little more delay and catch the arrows tail flight, or early and catch the tip. Without your explanation of whats breaking the glass, it is hard to tell. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 6, 2003 Ditto to all of the above, but what if the arrow penetrated the liquid? I think it would becool to see a blob of liquid exploding Link to comment
tripanfal 3 Posted November 6, 2003 I tried my best to get that shot. After my first attempt ( http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=1884054 ) I aimed a bit lower (in the dark mind you) but was still high. It was late and everthing was covered in glass so I decided to try another day. Thanks everyone for the ratings and comments. Link to comment
tripanfal 3 Posted November 7, 2003 Dan, My camera does not have a remote shutter. This image was taken in the dark. The shutter speed was 1 second and the flash was connected to a sound trigger. When the shutter was open, I shot the arrow and the sound trigger tripped the flash when it impacted the glass. The flash was set to the lowest setting (1/16), which is the fastest speed of the unit. g. 0 Posted November 7, 2003 I have always loved these "sound trigger" shots. Have always wanted to try them, myself. Thank you for providing the link to your site. Love your images! Link to comment
digitri 0 Posted November 7, 2003 Oh, what a beautiful mess! Congratulations for a fantastic result of a quite difficult shot to achieve. Link to comment
jeff_hilbrecht 0 Posted November 7, 2003 Since I don't have the means to do this type of shot, I must live vicariously through you. I think if you put a balloon just out of the frame in order to trigger the flash a tiny bit sooner, you could get the shot of the arrow as it penetrates the glass on one side, and before it exits on the other. Or maybe not, but that is what I would do if I could. Jeff Link to comment
chris_conrad 0 Posted June 23, 2004 Chris: This is completely intense. I have not seen this type of photography before nor had I ever considered something like this. Terrific work--I'll peruse your folder a bit more. cc Link to comment
tom_miner 0 Posted October 25, 2004 Very cool and original. What exactly is a sound trigger? Would I have to have one to do something like this? 6/7 Link to comment

udefinephotography 0 Posted November 18, 2007 How many glasses did you break and how many bottles of beverage did you "drink" before you got this one? LOL NICE WORK!!!! Link to comment
