I really like your treatment here, the way the flowers feel both ornamental and two dimensional. These orchids seem almost an alien species but a delicate and benign one.. Really a highly artistic depiction, Gordon.

Thanks Jack. This started out as a study exercise for a masking and compositing tutorial. The complexity of the orchid structure seemed a good challenge for masking it out of its original background. When I got to a certain point, I decided that I like the image and worked on it in earnest, trying to make the plant more 2 dimensional and the background more 3 dimensional.
