Can a negative be considered a photo?

I think the negative image looks very interesting. Something is not quite right about it, but it's pretty. Great use of imagination on this shot.

It's great. I wish I could duplicate the colors that ACDSee thumbnails of .PDD files have.

Surely a negative is a photograph, the question is, at what point does photographing someone else's artwork become original?

Unless you are taking a photo of somthing you have created by your own hands everything you photograph is created by some one else, And that goes for nature too. Now when you do artsy fartsy abstract photos you are changing what is there creating new from the old. Rules are there are no rules. Have fun!
