sammm 0 Posted November 2, 2003 I'm particularly interested in thoughts on the crop; this is cropped square from a much larger shot that included more of her and a mostly full dark background. Link to comment
relaymod 3 Posted November 2, 2003 interesting. good composition. could be sharper, though. Link to comment
amanda mumma 0 Posted November 2, 2003 Love the lighting - love the fingers! I do agree that it appears a little out of focus, looks like the shoulder is more in focus. Link to comment
stephen hazelton 3 Posted November 3, 2003 The pose of the fingers makes it look like a candid, but the total lack of background makes it obvious it is not- ie, a "posed" candid, which doesn't really work, in my opinion. Link to comment
sammm 0 Posted November 3, 2003 It is a total candid - the black background is a dimly lit indoor pool, and she is caught in a beam of light, which is what makes her so bright against the back. But I think the underlying point is that candids generally benefit from context. This is a print with a very dark background; it may be possible to pull out some of that background, or I can crop more broadly so a small dimly lit area shows to the left. Link to comment
mike werkhoven 0 Posted November 3, 2003 fine capture sam, good contrast, nice balance in subject and restspace, good content, thought. mike Link to comment
bens 0 Posted December 20, 2003 candids are never perfect. this is striking and adorable at the same time. very nice job. Link to comment
adrianhinojosa 0 Posted June 12, 2004 It is an eye catching image but square pictures are so wierd for the 35mm folks like me. If you have any more space on the left, I would include it or try croping the top and bottom. Link to comment
cappoldt 0 Posted December 10, 2005 Glorious - love it! One of those shots that ends up in a collage at the wedding, sir. The lighting is great - the eyes are startlingly colorful. Link to comment
