The sunlit world of our conscious life and the murky depths of our unconscious. sorry to get all psychological on you but the striking contrast between what's above and what's below immediately brought that comparison to mind.

The swamp can look so tangled and complex, but this shot has a simplicity to it - vertical lines cut by the water's surface.  Beautiful colors.  I like the contrast between the sharp-edged trunks and branches, and the ethereal clouds and vegetation.

Jack, Since you've put it that way, I have to point out that this image does not show the murky depths, but actually is reflecting what is above the water! Gives a whole other dimension to your analogy!
