jim_rooks 0 Posted May 31, 2001 The location of this sign in the cemetary is humrous to me but I am having trouble with the placement of the sign in the picture. Should I try a downward angle that would eliminate most of the post and extend the background? All suggestions will be appreciated. Link to comment
israel_capote 0 Posted May 31, 2001 I think you've got an interesting subject there...the sign with the graves behind it makes for a bit of a metaphor. I have to say though the 'tones' seemed really washed out. I'm not sure what your technique was for exposure but that part of the image is lacking. I will say this, if you want to use c-41 b/w film, I'd avoid the kodak select series...in my experience this film has always produced drab tones. I can give good recommendations for Ilford XP2 and Kodak t400cn...both of these can be processed like the select series but give far better tones. My best results with c-41 b&w film have come with the ilford xp-2, you might want to try the same shot and compare. Link to comment
berj_bannayan 0 Posted May 31, 2001 I *really* like this idea. It's funny as hell. Good eye! As for the positioning of the sign I would suggest putting it in the same relative position in the frame but on the left instead of the right. I think the reason I would like to see it there has to do with English being read from left to right. In this image I think I would like to start on the left, read the words and then look to the right to see the context. If you can get to the site again and try it I'd love to see the results to see if it works or if I'm just imagining things. Link to comment
