Superb.Sometimes I wonder if I should focus on the nose or the eyes if I don't have enough DOF. Sometimes I do both in different shots.

Mike - Sandy is a neighbor's dog - a real sweetheart.  But she's gone now, (this photo was taken a few years ago).

Tony - A way to ensure both eyes and nose are in focus is to back off a ways from the dog, leave plenty of room around the subject, and crop in as needed.
