I discovered this shot taken 5 years ago and now I wonder why I did not share it.

Mansfield  street which is about 1 km long is located in the heart of downtown Montreal with the following points of interest close by: Central Station, Queen Elizabeth Hotel and Place Ville Marie. It is also very close to a Catholic Church which is modeled after St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. It is called Mary, Queen of the world Cathedral.

Mansfield street was constructed around 1845 by James Smith and Duncan Fisher, Mansfield Street was named for William Murray, 1st Earl of Mansfield (1705-1793), a Lord Chief Justice of the King's Bench.

PS It was the reflection in the glass that caught my eye.

Yes and that's what caught my eye as well Tony. It's a great shot, the perspective is good and the lines are also. But the reflection adds warmth and makes the image work. Nice.

Thank you Holger. Despite you and I liking it, the number of views is quite small which could suggest that it does not have the same appeal to most.  And that is understandable.

I agree with you about reflections, but I've noticed something else, the geometry of shapes distribution in the image is very well defined and glass clear cut, look at it from side to side or from above down and you will figure what I mean.

I like the composition a lot.

So, the views are as slow as the speed limit ;-).  Those that haven't viewed this have missed a treat.  Well done... Mike

A wonderful shot, Tony.  Cityscape is not my favorite subject but this one really caught my eye - the reflections, colors, vertical and horizontal lines, the series of arches...

Best regards, Ajay.

This really is an impressive image Tony. The reflections and even how the light standards curve - almost seem part of that reflection. So glad you discovered this one in your archives - truly an excellent capture.

Although I am a country boy at heart - this is showing me what I'm missing, at least photographically.  Haven't been to a big city in decades - perhaps this fine shot will suffice!

Well done Tony,

David

David - I am not really a city boy also. I see it as services provided, get in and don't stick around too long. The city of Montreal tries to pull me in with their Jazz (wide variety of music)festival with lots of stuff free. Then comedic festivals and fireworks festivals, etc etc.

When you see a shot like this from me, it is because I had a specific reason to be downtown and I take my camera with me to see what I can capture. I have this very loose project where I want to take photos of street corners or streets in Montreal.  A hundred years from now, some of my images might be discovered.

Pierre - that is a wonderful crop and it makes sense aesthetically what you did. I would keep that as my abstract image. The one, I have with the cars is 'documentary' because the shape and style of cars can give some indication to the time period when and if it is viewed in the distant future.

All the very best
