The blustery day

dennis lee

homemade pinhole lens in black cinefoil. Always soft, could it be the slightly elliptical shape?

Pinholes and scenics are a sizeable departure from my usual

documentary style. How is this working out?

thanks for your comments.

dennis,I think this is totally effective! The colors were beautiful to begin with, but the technique has created such a wonderful painterly quality, and at the same time a feeling of movement. I can almost feel the cool autumn breeze :-) It is exquisite.

A slightly elliptical pinhole will be softer. But I would hate to see this any sharper at the same time. And I definitely don't think it's too dark.

This is a beautiful shot, it has a very surreal quality to it due to the darkness and blur. Something out of Burton, I love it!

I don't really know anything about the process but I think the effect is very dramatic. I think the picture could be made even better if the bottom third were brighter. This would be easy in PS. I took my latest fall shots near you in the Greenwich area.

I haven't seen too many pinhole images - but this must certainly become my favorite! I cannot even recall seeing one shot on color film; and the colors you recorded here are amazing. Brilliant work, as usual!
