I just must ask you Martin. Why do you consider that people taking selfies (or playing with their smart phone) is such a big deal, such an interesting theme? You must be spending hours at that place searching for moments like this but i really think you should expand "your envelope". I am going through you portfolio and i find out that folders with pictures away from that dock are much, much more interesting. Just consider it ...and keep on shooting.

Look at these people. They are in a state of ecstasy. Doesn't CNN publish a weekly or monthly compendium of selfies? They did for a while, at any rate.

They are all photos (yes selfies) of famous people from what i saw for those who live their lives through the lifes of the celebrities. Is this all the reasons why you pursue photos like this?

So, so many other things to photograph out there...

Sort of the reverse order, I think: I found that I was taking pictures of people taking selfies, then I began to see collections such as this one in CNN, so I realized what I was doing was part of a trend. I think 2013 was the "year of the selfie, at least for me, when I was taking a lot of these pictures.

This particular picture is a vertical crop of the picture posted next to this one (cropped horizontally).

Appears that the horizontal crop was somewhat better received, based on the ratings. Go figure!

Why so many views (615 as of this moment) of this 3.33 rated picture? A glitch in the "view" calculation system perhaps?!

I like the subject-- selfies may not be new but the final word on them is far away, I think.

I am very impressed by the sky's vertical color progression.

Also the match between the sky and the generally blue clothing of the people. Is this one of a large number of shots, is it planned, or what?

How is the sky made white immediately around the bodies? Is that a post-production effect?
