Aurora Borealis over lonely highway

looks incredibly fake... if this is a real picture then WOW!

Oh, it is definitely real. I got about 30 shots of the Aurora, and they all look about the same, check out some of the others in my portfolio. There is no lighting other than the aurora, so it makes everything else look weird.

Very nice, almost looks like a painting.

What's the cause of the white outline on the trees?

The only source of light was the aurora, and it was only strong enough to light the edges of the trees. That is the cause of the white.
