The convent is at the highest point in Cartagena de Indias, the full name of the city. The convent got the name popa, which means the stern of a ship. Apparently, early settlers thought that the hill, on which the convent sits, resembled the rear of a ship. Your comments are welcome and appreciated. Larry Link to comment
