I'm new to photography and I new to know if I'm heading in the right

direction. I don't know if this "macro" or not. I was wanting to show

detail in the dragonfly and give enough of the branch to show his

location, but still blow the background out. Is the composition

correct for this type of photography? All opinions and critiques are

welcome no matter how blunt or bad. Thanks in advance.

I'm new to photography too - but I think this is a great shot. Your dragonfly couldn't be clearer, and he's so perfectly positioned. Well done.

You sure you're a beginner? The colors are clearly distinct, the focus is clear and the composition is right on.

Your background control is excellent. be sure you always use a fast enough shutterspeed.
