I like all the movement in this piece. the railing leading our eyes upward. The blue catching our eye and leading us back and then there is the drain pipe, wonderful eye Jack

Wow.  The garbage carts have a certain gravitas.  The steps look so solid.  Everything is so frightfully real here, but I feel strangely comforted by the solidity of the scene.  In a world where nothing seems to have any meaning anymore, this scene, by contrast, shows a world in which everything knows its purpose, its place, and is content with it.  The subjects betray no angst.  Neither are they stoic.  They simply are. 

 

I think that you have captured Reality, Jack.  So many people try to capture it and hang onto it.  Well, here it is: Reality, industrial strength at that.

That's a real nice comment, Lannie, thanks. It's a scene that simply is. It has no meaning except what you bring to it. As you say, perhaps that's its strength.
