dennisbarnett 0 Posted January 20, 2016 During a recent cold wave, these incredible crystals formed on my windows. Link to comment

DavidTriplett 12,682 Posted January 23, 2016 Dennis, a fascinating study, well seen and captured. Why is the bottom of the image so much softer than the top 2/3? Link to comment
dennisbarnett 0 Posted January 23, 2016 David, in answer to your question about sharpness vs lack of it... this was a very close macro shot against my window. Similar to the others in my gallery of the same subject, the ice crystals were not perfectly flat, so I couldn't get everything in proper focus, even with a very deep DOF. Link to comment
aplumpton 16 Posted March 12, 2016 I like the slight blur on these ice crystals and the color. Whenever I have been lucky to see similar crystal they are more monochrome and even too well delineated, whereas you add another dimension here that changes their character, making them something that only mildly hints at their more purely crystallographic origin.
