aepelbacher 0 Posted October 17, 2003 What a great place to take pictures! I hope that you shot a bunch!! I would probably prefer something closer to the burned out train/car. The haze(?) at the top of the shot bothers me. It makes the lighting off balance, and blows out the sky and buildings in that area of the shot. I also question the colors in the grass ... they don't seem green enough. Have you considered trying this in B&W and uploading it to the photo.net general population? Nice work, as usual! mike_hodson 0 Posted October 20, 2003 I like this shot. It's a great subject and overall there is an eerie feeling to it. I really like the perspective on the train. I think it would be helped if we could not see the embankment that you are standing on. It places you (as the photographer) at the scene. I think the desolate feel of the train & fog works better if we are not thinking about you standing there taking the shot. The green grass is in contrast with the desolation of the rest of the scene. If that is part of what you are tying to communicate...life in a desolate place...that does come through but I think that the eerie feeling is strong enough to stand on it's own with out the contrast of the green grass. I agree with L.A.A. that this would be a great black & white subject. This is a very good photo...keep it up. Link to comment
omeryair 0 Posted October 21, 2003 A very good photo Gustavo. The train shows its age and the fog adds a lot to it. The right building (the one with the windows) should be cropped. This type of images should be taken with the wide setting of your zoom (I can't say what you chose for this one). The colors here are dull/red. Maybe it's because of the fog or it can be the cause of the fast film. Link to comment
mike_hodson 0 Posted October 22, 2003 I was playing around with this image in MS Picture It (I don't have Photo Shop). I don't know that this is any better but it is different. Link to comment
ivan colman 0 Posted October 23, 2003 Personally I find this a very strong photo. it is one of these photo's where the photographer succeed in telling a story. The colors are working adding a lot to this image. The green grass can be seen as a small sign of "something else". A more aestetic world, a more optimistic world.... the mist is also a very large part of the atmosphere ! Great work. A beatyful photo of somethin beautifull is not so difficult, but a good photo of something witout any aestetical value is a challenge. And You succeeded here very well ! Link to comment
alaghi 0 Posted October 23, 2003 Thanks for all comments!I like Mike's changes to this photo. The original print is little bit less saturated than the uploaded version, because the scan process. Link to comment
vemuri 1 Posted November 20, 2003 A beautiful composition. I really admire your creativity in picking this subject. Good job. But I am not sure about the top part? Is it foggy or has it been over exposed? That portion does seem important to the shot and I would have wished for some more detail unless it's a fog which I believe is what it is. Link to comment
alaghi 0 Posted November 20, 2003 There was a FOGGY evening. I cannot see 6 or 7 meters in front of my eyes in some areas. Beautiful place there. Link to comment
calys 0 Posted April 1, 2004 also if the train is immovable and in disuse the photo from a sense of movement...perhaps the colors are a little bit out. Link to comment
