__kaa__ 0 Posted June 1, 2001 Taganka was Moscow's notorious central prison and title of a folk song, footnote to Russia's unendurably tragic historyAhem. Taganka was not Moscow's notorious central prison. "Taganka" usually refers to a theater in Moscow, "Teatr na Taganke" which was considered quite daring in the Soviet times. You probably mean Lubyuanka instead of Taganka. There used to be a prison there, although it is more known as headquarters of Russian secret police (NKVD, KGB, FSB, etc.). AFAIK the "main" prison in Moscow is the Lefortovo prison, anyway.
