Andrew, very nice composition. Grayscale is a bit muddy in the foreground, though detail is still available. The leftmost 1/6 dilutes the presence of the sequence of fore/mid/background rocks. It does provide some context of the rain coming, but that's available above the midground rocks.  Maybe bring in from the left a bit, increase foreground contrast/sharpness. Its a visual treat I'd have been proud to take. 'Iconic desert landscape.

I had not read the above comment before I decided to critique this photo, but what is said is absolutely right. The composition is fantastic - and yes perhaps better with 4:3 ratio, loosing some from the right - but this photo needs some punch. Contrast!

Andrew, beautiful new take on an often-photographed locale. I especially like the rain clouds.
