Unusual choice of black and white on these normally brightly colored balloons, but somehow it works well. I like the way the distant balloons appear scattered against the sky. Always varied and interesting work in your folders Mike. Thanks for sharing and inspiring.

Thanks for stopping in to look and comment. My intent in using bw was to emphasize the form, and I felt the central placement supported that idea. I think the contrast of the strong form against the sky also brings out some of the anachronistic character of the mass ascension, and creates a somewhat surreal or absurdist effect along the lines of what Magritte or Gary Larson might do with the subject.

I agree with Regina here. Usually we see balloon pictures in vivid color, but you made this work in B&W, maybe that's why it caught my eye right away. It's a spectacular scene.

Best Baloon picture I've seen. My only gripe are the urban structures in the background.
