Hey Levi, I am only 15 and I've been pursuing the interest of photography for about a year and a half now. I recommend visiting this site frequently, as it is a good source for photography information. Depending on what type of photographer you would like to be, you should read articles and view pictures of your interest. I know I like wildlife photography and if thats something your interested in email for more information. Now lets get to your photo. Aesthetically your photo is good. The head of your dog is placed well but the fence is just to distrating good start though. I know when I first started photography, I photographed my dog alot to. Please email with any more questions you have in regards to photography. (Email-Trevor152001@aol.com)

Hello.. I just wanted to say, the point of your photo was- the dog looking through the fence, wasnt it? if so, I dont think the fence is too distracting. the position the dogs face is, is pretty good, because a line of wire going through the center of Phebe's eyeball would definately not be good. Your not taking a picture of a dogs face, but a face looking through the fence, like dogs often spend their lives doing. For the subject matter, its not bad. composition wasnt bad. of course there are always things to improve. maybe the dog could have been looking really bored? or really excited to get to the person on the other side of it? who knows.. its expression doesnt say too much, and that is where one of the most important things of photography comes in.. the moment. there are brief moments in time, facial expressions, movements, and other things that can only be caught if you press the shutter at the decisive moment. take care, and good luck with your photography. takeing lots of pictures and critiquing them yourself or by photonet is a great way to learn alot.

really, not bad.. but remember, what might mean something special to you, doesnt always mean something to someone else.. you have to realize that when you put pictures out to be critiqued.

Try for as many good shots you can get out of a roll, but realize that a good shot is rare. Practice makes better. And practice means lots of rolls of film, if your trying to become a better photographer.

Be critical about your work, but realize them and appreciate them for what they are.. steps toward improvement.

take care-

Brian.
