amanda mumma 0 Posted October 12, 2003 The rocks in the foreground really make this shot. There are alot of these reflection shots but I really like this - its all about the rocks! Link to comment
tony_tibbs2 0 Posted October 13, 2003 excellent contrast between near, dark mountains and far, bright range Link to comment
eric_gilbert1 0 Posted October 13, 2003 I think it is th Lake Louise. I already took this picture, but it wasn't as nice as yours. It is beautiful. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted October 13, 2003 The balance of foreground and background, and the symmetry around the valley and its reflection are very inviting. The water is especially beautiful...long exposure w/ND filter? Beautiful shot! Link to comment
mitras 0 Posted October 13, 2003 this is the best photo i have seen today. beautiful landscape and well captured. do tell us more about the location. Having said that, the distant blue haze (between the trees and the mountains in your pic) is a bit annoying. many of my recent photos of the american south-west were marred by similar haze. do you know any way to rid this ? nickjohnson 0 Posted October 13, 2003 Thanks for the comments. The technicals are 4 exposures, one of the left at 24mm on a Canon 24-70L at f/16 for 2.5 seconds (spotmetered the highlights at ~+1 1/3 stops) another at 5 seconds (spotmetered the shadows at ~-1 stop), then another two exposures on the right. Merged them all together in Photoshop and masked to keep all the detail that one exposure could not have captured on Velvia. Major work removing the blue cast of the morning, increasing contrast, and saturating. No filters. Link to comment
nickjohnson 0 Posted October 13, 2003 Sayan,The haze can be cleared by a good rain that takes the impurities out of the air sometimes. In my case the park was having forrest fires so the haze got thicker as the trip went on. However, I find that the haze depicts a real sense of depth in the photo, and I welcomed it in every landscape I shot. Link to comment
marko_salo 0 Posted October 14, 2003 Nice composition and I like how you cropped this one. Left side of the picture is little bit too crowded. Centre of the picture is almost hypnotic. Link to comment
dave_holland 0 Posted October 15, 2003 Too many people take that standard shot of Lake Louise looking up at Mt Victoria. But this, this is a new, creative view. Thanks for the insight. As I always suspected, it's the viewer, not the subject. Link to comment
