amypowers 0 Posted May 24, 2001 Nice...again, I like the "stripes". I would re-shoot this, and move the chair away from behind you and whatever the piece of furniture is in the far right side of the frame. And don't cut off the feet! If this, like your other pictures, is also a self portrait, try taking some masking tape and marking the edges of the frame on the floor where you'll be posing. That way you know " My feet must be inside the tape..." But a very nice effort! Link to comment
kat_anderson 0 Posted May 25, 2001 Thanks Amy, and yes, I have looked at your portfolios....I just haven't set aside a day to write comments yet :) What do you think of the color vs black and white or duotone? I don't have a photography background - is there some reason why color is not considered "fine art?" Link to comment
amypowers 0 Posted May 31, 2001 Color is not considered "fine art" because its too lifelike. Or something. I mean, I don't know - but thats what it seems. B/W is a step removed from reality, and in the case of nudes, people need that distance in order to respond with, shall we say, their higher mind rather than their lower one. Understand I am NOT telling you that this is the "correct" thing and that you should abide by this canon. I'm just telling what the convention is. This would be an interesting question to pose in the Moderated Forum... Link to comment
tom_menegatos 0 Posted June 1, 2001 I think if it's done tastefully you can have fine art nudes in color. I like the pose here. It looks like you are passed out on the floor. I wish there was more detail in the setting with an indication of why you were lieing down on the ground in just a sweatshirt. The image looks a little blown out on your left leg. The shadows on the thighs are interesting but the shadow on the lower legs doesn't seem to match. The way the lighting is all this really is to me is an intersting picture of a really great ass but I don't think that's all you wanted to convey here. Even if it were in black and white that's all I would see in this. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 13, 2001 I love the concept - I've always thought these types of semi-nudes, with the top covered, are sensuous - the fact that it is a gray sweatshirt makes it more wonderful. I would love to see more - you have an excellent bottom for such work. Link to comment
jonathancharlesphoto 4 Posted September 22, 2001 Interesting composition and flowing lines. The muted colour works well and gives wamth which makes more sense of the idea behind the picture - makes it feel real, not just an arty pose. My only (small) suggestion is to crop off the visible sock on the left edge. Excellent. Link to comment
