Your comments are appreciated. One of a series of images (in progress),

in-camera and without Photoshop special effects, on rain, shot in August

2015.

Out of the short series I like #5 best. Hard to tell exactly why, but I think the cool greens and grays invoke more of a rainy feeling with me. Also, the rain effect here is more modest, there are a few recognizable drops, it looked "rainy" right from the start. In others (especially #1, #2) the effect is more pronounced and, sadly enough in this age of Photoshop and other image manipulation programs, looks manipulated. I know, you didn't, but those images made me think of some fancy post-processing work, while with this one here it was rain that came to mind right away. That's why it is my favorite! I like it a lot.

Hello Christopher. Thank you for your kind comments. You are right that the effect varies with the intensity of rain and the way it is "frozen" (captured on a glass sheet while trying to keep the background in focus). I also like this one, as the trees are rendered somewhat indistinct through the rain drops. I will add more to the series as I transfer them from camera computer. I have also done this with snow melting on a glass. Further work will explore more the question of content versus effect.

So, you were shooting simply through a piece of glass? I thought you were probably riding on top of a double-decker bus. All the viewpoints are high and overlooking a street or road. It's a cool idea!
