Rebecca, one of my favorite perennials, is always found in

abundance at our Ecology Park each Spring. I always look forward to

it's lovely colours and varying postures. It seems quite hardy despite

it's delicate appearance. Garry Barker, one of our fellow PN

members has also photographed this lovely flower at the Ecology

Park. If you get a chance, drop by and visit Garry's diverse Portfolio.

Besides lovely flowers he has some pretty impressive images taken

at recent Car Shows in our area. He is a friend of my Dad's and I

always enjoy the variety in his images.

Gail, this is a lovely floral with that strong romance vibe. I'm not a plant person, so I didn't know it's name until now. These are very beautiful and you present them well.

'Not a plant person or really into florals, other than near macros. This gets my attention anyway - for the way the bloom (?) is so artfully backgrounded by complimentary form, color. 'Seems very well done to me.

The flowers grow in little clumps and when you can find some that occupy a decent sized area, there is usually a lovely background when shooting at f/2.8.  It is one of the reasons I love photographing these flowers so much. Thanks so much for dropping by.

Thanks Amy.  I think it is the colour, delicate nature, and there is always lovely patches of other flowers in the background where I take these images.  It's odd, I have always been able to find the name of this when I search, found it years ago quite easily, but this evening I searched it again and found other flower by the same name.  I am going to try and find the Latin name to put in my Photo Journal so I always have it.  Sincere thanks for those encouraging words, truly appreciate your visit.

Sounds redundant but "sweet." Nice background colors help to bring out the subject. Good use of textures.

Gail, This has a great artistic feel to it, maybe the texture of the background leads me that way. The subject is lovely and seems to stand out from the others as if bowing to her majesty.

This is lovely, Gail, old-fashioned and sentimental but in a very appealing way. It brings back nostalgic memories of my grandmother and the contentment I felt as a young child whenever she was around.

I can see how you would relate this to your Grandmother. Back then wallpaper, their house dresses, facric designs often were made of very soft florals.  I recall my Grandmother's home being very similar.  She was such a loving and caring woman - I was only 9 when she passed away but I never forgot the affection that was 'her'.

Charles -  sincere thanks for those encouraging words. I love these flowers so much.  You have such a diverse range of florals in you your portfolio. I know I have a lot of catching up to do.

Patsy    -  Thanks Patsy.  I really enjoyed working on this one.

Larry    -  I know it takes awhile before I will settle on a 'finish'.  It was nice exploring the possibilities with this one.

I never saw that, but you are right.  To me these flowers for the most part have a very 'humble' posture. Funny thing is - they seem quite hardy as far as the weather goes.  The first time I saw one I was entranced with them.  Very intricate for such a delicate and small bloom.
