AmyHelmick 0 Posted September 6, 2015 Okay, this is the last version. I was unable to get a satisfactory version with the added exposure. I'm thinking version II is the one I like the best, but here is the one that has more light. Link to comment
Mark Z 371 Posted September 6, 2015 Amy, this certainly has a different vibe than the original shot. It could be a detail from a painting by Michelangelo or Rubens. There is some inevitable blotchiness, which to me does not distract from the definition of the form. For me, this version works best. Link to comment
overdiep 0 Posted September 6, 2015 Amy, This one is less mysterious, but also nice. It is a beautiful landscape of the body of a woman. Link to comment
wink_photo 0 Posted September 6, 2015 Amy. I am currently using my IPad and it is hard to see the subtleties between I and II. However, I think number 1 looks better. Definitely not III. The third version loses all the mystery without really gaining anything to increase the emotional impact of the work. I think folks fret too much about detail and sharpness sometimes. My view is that this shot gets its meaning from the darkness (metaphorically and in reality). The beauty of the original is its intimacy, a nude woman, partially seen, in the dark. How most nudes are actually seen, right? I feel pretty strongly that your initial instincts were spot on and it is without a doubt the best interpretation. Sorry for rambling and all the best. AmyHelmick 0 Posted September 8, 2015 Mark, Marco, and Dana: thank you for sharing your impressions.Mark, I want to thank you for the critique: it did encourage me to go back and try a new approach. Though I still like this one darker (the blotchiness just bothers me too much), it is good to have different takes of a piece of work. I think it can be difficult to give an honest critique, especially if there is constructive criticism involved. Thank you so much for sharing your impressions with such a helpful spirit.Marco, thank you was well. I like the landscape/body idea very much.Dana, I alway appreciate your input, especially in this genre, since you do a lot of work with nudes. To me it is important to do respectful and artful work in this area. Your work is always a fine example of that and you are very inspirational. Link to comment
human images 4 Posted September 12, 2015 ... curious how sand dunes jump to mind, at first view, anyway... Nice work Amy; womanly soft and painterly Link to comment
AmyHelmick 0 Posted September 13, 2015 Thanks for your impression Carlos. I kind of thought that too. It's the tones in this one I think that read as sand.Amy Link to comment
