Love it in B&W and really like the depth.  There is no 'noise' here - it is remarkably tranquil and it does lead you to some grainy sand on the beach.

Noise it is then. Let's add a gale sweeping down from the north and seagulls squawking as the beat their way inland to escape the raging storm. This walkway could be swept away at any moment; such delicious danger! Great shot, Daniel, full of drama and darkly shifting tones. The wind will blow it right into my favorites

A very evocative image and a powerful composition.

In the times of film photography this was called "grain" (which is a much nicer term) and it was considered an embellishment.

Thank you all, and each of you individually, kind fellows of PN who have taken the time to leave your comments here, after your most welcome visit.

Donato, I take the opportunity here, based on your comment, to briefly tell you that yes, indeed the more proper name for this effect is grain. Furthermore, if you read my biography here in PN, you will probably gather that I have been involved in photography for several decades, and this is an effect I used to get (or produce) the "old way", by overdeveloping high-speed film and then using high contrast paper. So thanks for your comment, and it gives me the chance to make a comment on the title, which is a bit more subtle, in that I might like the place "noisy" when it actually and obviously is not...but on second thought, it might be a different kind of "noisy", that is, the enveloping sound of the surf.

This image is an homage to a structure.  To many, it is mundane, ordinary.  To me, it is the protector of the grasslands that border the shoreline.  And, for whatever it's worth, consider me in full agreement with all of the accolades you and the image have garnered.
