andy_graham 0 Posted May 27, 2001 i think the ratings speak for themselves...very good shot....good everything Link to comment
gil_bert 0 Posted May 30, 2001 I think the depth of field is too small. The sharp area (dog's "face") is small compared to the rest of the photo which is too blurry. Maybe a tighter crop around the dog's head would also work. Alternatively a soft focus and a longer DoF would do nice too. Otherwise the tones are nice and warm. Link to comment
marcello iannotta 0 Posted June 14, 2001 This is indeed a beautiful image; it captured the emotion of the subject. I think the lighting is very good and what I especially like is the shadow over the eyes: that still lets us see the details. The expression in the dog's eyes is really sweet and captivating. The eyes are the windows to the soul... Link to comment
jennybrown 0 Posted August 8, 2001 This could have been better shot from at the dog's level or below. It has sort of a patronizing effect from such a high angle, and throws the rest of the body out of focus. I'd prefer to see either the whole body in sharp focus, or, a portrait of just the head without the distracting chair. The chair could be great if you shot horizontally from a bit farther away, so it was ALL sharp. You have a good opportunity here; keep trying different things with it, play around. Link to comment
m m 0 Posted June 28, 2002 Nice. I like this one a lot. I think the composition and angle of view are just fine. And I like chair! The texture of the wicker is very attractive and inviting. I will however second the need for greater depth of field, although I'm not sure if the photo would work with more. Maybe instead just adding a soft filter would do the trick. That way the head is not so strikingly sharper than the body. Cute dog! Link to comment
