There's trouble in the ranks.  Perhaps the brass is losing control.

Jack, you have a knack for exploiting contradictions.  It appears that the "soldiers" have identical features, prompting a conclusion that this is a symmetry of sorts.  Yet, their ranks are not ordered.  Each soldier is not equidistant from each other proximate soldier.

The lighting is perfect. Your framing treatment is perfectly suited.   Unusual.  Nice work. ~~~~L

I am not sure if my reaction to this image is strange or not but here goes:

When I saw the thumbnail, my immediate reaction was that those white circular objects were something to press. Then I reasoned that it must be some type of typewriter or enigma machine.  Perhaps the 'army' in your title made me lean towards an enigma machine.

The photography is quite effective in B&W and has lots of depth.

Great BW shot. Reminds me of star war troopers :). A little bit a lack of discipline for an army indeed :).

Great shot Jack.

Excellent title for this composition. They do look like an army. They are numbered, almost seem to be constructed out of steel and cement, I can't help but wonder if they have something to do with construction, or electrical applications?? Sure are a lot of them. Whatever they are, they worked well for this composition. I like the film grain, it adds depth and interest. I also like what seems to be an errie glow coming from them. (perhaps they are used under water, hmmmmm)

It's been taking me more than a while to finally get to write something on this one. And I still don't know really what to write. But my, do I love to see this photo again and again. It remainds of the terracotta armies, but there is also something of the classic image of WW2 fighter planes flying over. Yet, despite these military touches, the lines are just perfectly unorderly, just that bit of swing in them. Like a funny take on it all, that little quirkiness you do so well.

Did I already mention that I much like this photo? Maybe I should mention that too.

A belated thanks for taking the time to comment on this picture. I seldom use such a heavy vignette but I think it works pretty well here. They do look sort of like a raggedy-ass company of Star Wars storm troopers, don't they? Actually, they are road barriers assembled for some new construction project. Damn, I shouldn't have let you in on the secret! Oh, and yes Wouter, I do court the quirky; I am quite the quirky courter.

I remember the queue when the first McDonalds´ restoran was opened in the Soviet Union:-) Great work with shadow and light, and what a scene of details.
