Lovely image. i like the use of the cone flowers as a leading line to take us into the picture and the clouds to create a perspective line. Good color.Maybe a slightly different crop or shot angle to get the building out of the center would have been better, but that is a minor criticism or thought. Very nice shot.

BTW I am going to be spending a little more than a week touring the maritimes. i hope I can get at least a couple images that come close to yours while in the region. - Charles

Charles, Thanks for the detailed comment. Always appreciated. I agree that the house could be less central. It was an overcast day most of the time so when the sun came out briefly I was anxious to capture those small daubs of sunlight just to the left of the house, the tree immediately to the right of the house and the the top of the tree at the rxtreme right.  I also wanted to keep the grey path as a diagonal line to the house. I think if I had moved slightly to the right I probably would have been able to satisfy all my goals and getting the house out of the central position.

Enjoy your trip to the Maritimes where weather can be a challenge with gray days. If it is a driving trip and you don't stay more than a day in one place, it can be physically challenging to get up before sunrise, then drive all day taking other photos and then stick around for sunset time. Getting up early one day rewarded me with some terrific images and I decided to stay a 2nd night at the motel. The next morning and most of the day was rain. I suppose I could have taken images of foliage with rain drops. There were also some nice sunny days.

I just looked at my Atlantic Canada folder and could not find images of the lighthouse at Peggys Cove (not to be missed). Your challenge is to get that structure without people in the image but if you sacrifice and do it at sunrise, most people will still be sleeping.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, it is a bus tour so notall of the choices are mine. We are staying in locations more than one day and will have reasonable free time also. I mhave been to Peggy's Cove so I know not having people is a challenge, we will see what happens. Ding Halifax and area, then cape Breton and area, the PEI Then St Johns and back to western shore. I should be able to get some shots.

Cabot Trail is very nice and some parts of a well paved road can be quite steep with some good photo opportunities for images.

Thanks Tony. I am looking forward to it. Just created a new folder of leaves that may give you some food for thought.

Beautiful image and colors.  I think the cropped version is a slight improvement, although the centering of the house wasn't a problem for me (maybe because of the leading line provided by the flowers).  Congratulations, Phil

Pity it wasn't a bigger copy presented! Beautiful colors and elements all around in a great perspective shown, Tony!

Best regards
