phil_m1 0 Posted October 8, 2003 Very nice. What do you think to cropping it on the right to remove the blank spaces in the corners? Link to comment
agaudio 0 Posted October 8, 2003 Ahhhh, this is such a pleasing site to my eye. The patterns and lines in this image are completely amazing. Link to comment
martin_paul 0 Posted October 9, 2003 I hope you don't mind but I couldn't help resist take this one into Photoshop and crop it to loose the white areas on the right. This is what I got. I think it makes it an even better photo. Regards, Martin Paul. Link to comment
fast_primes 0 Posted October 10, 2003 Sorry Phil and Martin, I disagree! It looks best "as is" to me. Taking out the sky corners, changes the picture too radically. Link to comment
marco_chiapponi 0 Posted October 10, 2003 I agree with Martin , the crop gives more impact and less distraction to the image Link to comment
armindo_lopes 1 Posted October 10, 2003 You should have a look at a pic of a guy named Bas Meelker. Looks to be the same pic, with a different crop and less contrasted. Link to comment
nicolasray 0 Posted October 11, 2003 First off - Top notch print. The lighting is soft and interesting I like the way the trees are lit from under. The color is very natural and somber. Without a doubt, this print SHOULD NOT be cropped. Your eye is led down the bank from sharp contrast to a soft glow of color. The "blank" spaces on the two corners help you eye take this journey. If I were to paint this scene I would paint it exactly as this image captured it. The butchered version (cropped) doesn't really say very much. It has the same color value throughout the print. The perspective is a bit lost. I find that "cropping" is over used, with out much thought. Once again this is wonderful. 10/10 Link to comment
ye 0 Posted October 11, 2003 Astounding! Out of Bas' and yours - this one wins hands down. Don't even think about croping - that's really bad idea. The white corners are part of what makes this photo - I'm sure they are not accidental, but intentional. Congrats! Link to comment
terburg.net 0 Posted October 11, 2003 Thanks everyone for the comments. I was in this location on a phototrip with Bas. We shot this picture at the same time. I is nice to see how two photographer with the same camera take a picture of an identical view and end up with a totaly different print. I like my version the way it is. Thanks for the tips.
