Osaka' getting surrealar by the second but there is a perfectly horizontally integrated hand with the antidote to what ails us...

Thanks, Carlos. The whole shooting match is starting to look like something dreamed up by Tim Burton. When I was young I had to take a hit of acid to get to this place; now I'm there on the natch. Don't much understand what's going on nowadays and to tell you the truth, I don't much care. I find it all quite amusing, especially the reactions, counter reactions and over reactions. We've all gone perfectly mad. Could be society has always been mad but you just have to get to a certain age to realize it. It's my birthday. 72 today so I've obviously reached that "certain age" I referred to. I feel like I'm watching an endless episode of Saturday Night Live (the one from way back with Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner et al). You might as well play it as comedy or you'll just sink under the weight of the whole creaking, Rube Goldbergian structure. Whatever you do, you can't afford to take it seriously. One final thought about the picture - don't you just love that they advertise the fact that their clothes are made in downtown LA - probably by illegal immigrants who are making minimum wage. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but it doesn't seem like much of a selling point.

Happy Birthday young man and may you have many more.  Listening to the news or getting bits and pieces from the internet, it certainly seems that the world has gone mad. I subscribe that it is all in keeping with genetic coding in each of us. Maybe we can have coffee (*_*) one day and I can explain my hypothesis (*_*) which is quite simple and orderly.

The person sitting is either impatient or despondent which, in both cases,  excessive waiting can be a factor. The bottle at the bottom right seems to be out of place but after some consideration, it seems to be in just the right place.

There are so many visuals in todays post, the hand with the bottle. the loan bike to the right, cell phone guy surrounded by mannequins. Well done!

A little late but still: Happy Birthday! May the good pixels be with you long time to come. Healthy years!

Love the photo, Jack.  Sorry I missed the birthday.

As for seventy-two, well, I'm right behind you at seventy as of this past April.

Thanks for taking the time to comment on this picture and for the birthday wishes. I can't believe I'm 72, there must be some mistake, perhaps a clerical error. I'm quite sure I'm well short of 60. My uncles were in their 70's and I'm nothing like that, sitting around all day playing pinochle. I'm convinced we'll clear the matter up soon.

I'm sorry I missed your Birthday Jack. They come sooner every year and really, while I'm going to be 61 this year, I cannot believe I am that old. It is all a 'state of mind' and as long as you get out there and enjoy what you do, be true to yourself, ignore the insanity and lifestyle that this store encourages - well, you know what I mean.  The lifestyles of the rich and famous in L.A. - well at least the ones that have their faces and every minute of their day in the news; cannot believe anyone would publish a book of 'selfies'.  I might be wrong in my thinking but all these people who spend a good part of their day taking selfies - well to me, it is a form of IDOLITRY. Who are these people that have all this time on their hands ? And to think that I see people doing this all the time even while I am out shopping - and then there is Facebook, InsaGram, INK 361.....and the list goes on. It's rather odd - when you go on a Cruise to the Caribbean and stop at the many Island Ports - nearly every store is a Designer Fashion Store and you can buy the same merchandise in Canada and the U.S. I am interested in Camera's etc., but at this stage in my life I am not impressed by those who seem to have to have a certain designer handbag, clothing, or furnishings in their home. These are all incidentals that can disappear at any moment. Just like their 'souls' that are being eaten up by everything this kind of store represents. You had the big advantage on your Birthday. You could have a chuckle, shake your head, take the photo, and THEN JUST WALK AWAY..............enjoy whatever insensible sensibilities you have left and just keep smiling :) Gail (just saw your other Folder, eager to see what goodies you have!)

Who said that American apparel has no appeal overseas?  All the dollarmongers have to do is post a sign and slap a label on each item.  And, by the way, shoppers are treated to a drink by an anonymous benefactor.

The juxtaposition of dissimilar objects in this scene reminds me of something Dylan said in Don't Look Back: "Keep a good head, and carry a lightbulb."  Pardon me, but I'm off to find my own lightbulb by going up the stairs.

I hope your birthday was a grand one.

No doubt, you were successful in traveling to Psychedelphia even without that hit of acid you mentioned.

Dear Jack,

I am surprised to see that you have become "certain age" with your vision nothing short of perfect.

Anyway, a person of your age should be well aware of the right lower corner of the image which practically functions as the F* word for the remaining composition. How improper!

A happier, snappier new age, by the way :)
