steve_bright1 0 Posted October 8, 2003 Very nice image - beautifully caught. Can you give us some technical details please, i.e. location, lens, shutter speed, ISO etc. It looks like it's quite a noisy image from a high ISO/long exposure, but it could just be compression artifacts. Are the white spots stars or hot pixels? Whatever, I think it's a top photo. Link to comment
richard harris 0 Posted October 8, 2003 Thanks Steve, the location is Northern Sweden, about an hour south of Umea (that's the Baltic you can see at the bottom). There isn't that much noise in the image, it's actually the Aurora itself which has those trails on it, the rest is just photo.net's JPG compression at work. Exposure was 10 seconds at ISO 100 (the Aurora was vey bright), tripod mounted obviously. Lens was 17-40 F4L @ 17mm F4. The white spots presumably are stars, there is also some thin cloud around the Aurora. Link to comment
