Im going to critique this as if you were a photography student since it appears that you have some expertise. My first thought would be lighting. Honestly I would love to see a little more light on the back of him, and a little less booked from your three dots. That seems to distract instead of enhance the portrait. Im also getting a weird darkness on the left coat as if maybe you used the burn tool to create the shadow. Play with your lighting a little more to make this pop. Nice concept. 

Thanks for the insights. I didn't burn the right shoulder but you are right it could be dodged a bit!
