You may not remember me, but I followed your work on PN pretty regularly.  I'm happy you are posting again, and I congratulate you for this image's being designated today's POTD.

The atmosphere of this image clearly is abstract - better still, surrealistic.  Although it appears to be raining heavily, it may be unclear whether the subjects actually are able to find shelter.  They are shadow figures, such that only their shapes identify them as human - as compared with the dog one of them is walking.

You've done quite well with the tonal range and contrasts.  I am quite impressed with the transition from light to dark.

Michael has already done a more thorough and thoughtful analysis than I could produce.  I agree that the shot carries not only a lot of visual interest, but some emotional tugs as well.  A deep shot that conveys a lot of joie de vivre.

And, now that I am viewing the image again, it's snow - not rain.

Michael take another look buddy --- a shot of a kid in shorts and T-shirt pulling a reluctant dog on to the best water spigot of a public fountain... And the man in the background, swinging the child… This picture is about summer shenanigans but I could be wrong. Maybe I just need another drink.

thank you for your feedback, I enjoy reading your comments, quite surprising that the reality turned out to be a little difficult to grasp here. The photo was taken in Krakow, one of the biggest cities in Poland, on a scorching hot summer day. To cool off a bit, one could take a quick shower supplied with water from a hose pipe placed in the middle of the main square. A rough and ready device that did the trick.

Michael, you are one of those artists on PN site whose style and quality of comments is easily recognizable and, although I don’t make as many comments at present as I used to, I still browse your work regularly. Thank you for your generous critique, glad you like the tonal range which needed some post-processing. And, of course, thank you for making an effort to try to guess what’s going on here.

it is like Iceland in center of Rome. Purity of content and form. diffused light literally draws the layers. maybe I would probably raise camera higher to get rid bottom squares, but it is adding some nexus with RTC of image, guiding the eye of beholder in X axis. one of THE street image which follows the best rules, yet remains free and tasty.

Black and white is appropriate for this dynamic image. The lighting and composition are just perfect. It is also very creative, inspiring and full of mystery.  Bravo!

photography is also about mathematics and geometry, it is so?

Boris, thank you for responding back. I take your point though I guess we need to handle this weapon carefully as sticking to the rules of mathematics in photography may sometimes spoil the desired effects.
