Old Tennessee Barn

This old barn has seen its "hay" day!

I know this would've been better on a blue sky day, but couldn't

pass it up as I was driving down the highway.

A very pleasing photo, but I feel like it is copies too many other photos of decrepit, old barns.

A nice photo but it is not jumping out at me. There is little creativity in the framing of this shot or the layout. No careful attention to angle or lighting. It looks like one of mine. I have the same problem at times. I get so excited about finding my subject that I forget to bring it to life for the viewer. But, you have a good eye. You talent for lighting is evident in the photo you uploaded of your daughter. Very nice soft lighting. Good photo. I can tell you are very talented already.

This is a classic old barn. Would love to have an hour with it myself. I agree with T.C. This great old barn is begging to be captured. The lighting is nice but the composition doesn't seem to do it justice. I would kinda like to see how it would have looked in B&W with all those gaps and planks. Good eye. (Just a beginners opinion)

Yes, I wished I had had an hour with it, too! I was traveling and on a deadline to be back when I saw the barn, turned around, stopped to grab this shot, and headed out...all of 2 minutes. What intrigues me is the rust color on the roof that would be lost in B&W...but, I will look at a B&W version, and upload it. Thanks!

I prefer the color over the B&W. Could the composition have been better? Sure, but the color contrast between the roof and foliage just jump out at me. I love old barn pics and I find this one appealing.

I agree with Roger, the color shot is better, the rusty roof is a grabber! The composition is a bit stiff, but I still like it, -Jim

For me much better in colour as I wouldn't want to lose the rusty roof. Texture and colour of wood good as well. Think I would crop it just above level of roof to lose part of that sky. Also think it needs something else to bring it to life, maybe an animal of some sort grazing.
