Here comes the ball...it's amazing how these guys in the fractions of a second can make the decision to see and judge whether or not  to swing. Amazing eye to hand coordination as they say. This is well captured Len and I appreciate this group of images as I was very involved when my oldest son played ball for 10 years, not at this level obviously. Thanks for sharing these images Len.

I can't claim to be an avid baseball fan having attended a game only every 5 years or so.  But it is a fun time and presents a challenge for the amateur photographer via distance from the action and the sea of baseball hats to get through if you are not in the front row.  As with any type of photography, patience and persistence are paramount.  A little luck never hurts either. The half dozen photos of this game that I've posted are the result of my vicious editing of about 250 frames.  So you can see that (a) I got lucky at times and (b) I'll never make a living at this.  :-)  Thanks for your visit & comment.  Best, Len.

This is a great shot, particularly since you caught the ball in the frame.  Now you know why the pros use the top of the line bodies and fast lens.  I've noticed that they shot tons of frames as well to get the money shot, so I think you've done an excellent job with the images you've posted... Thanks for the vote of confidence.  Nice to get positive feedback.  (negative is also welcome if it points to ways to improve the shot)  Best, Len.

Well then, I'm almost pro; 6 keepers out of 250+ frames! :-)  And luck is good!  Thanks for your appraisal.  Best, Len.

I love this shot because you've caught in an instant the whole science of hitting, just love it.  However, what I really love is how you included in the frame the crowd and all the varied activities going on at any one time.  Lately, in MLB so many fans are injured by foul balls and broken bats flying into the stands that it's imperative for those close to the field to be ever vigilant while paying attention to the game.  Damn, those two parents in the front row are putting their kids in serious jeopardy.  Thanks for this wonderful photo.

Many thanks for your 2 cents worth.  Was a fun time.  I hadn't thought about the danger to the fans aspect of the game but now I see what you mean and I agree.  And it's not just sour grapes because they had better seats than me. :-)  Perhaps, in reality, I at least had safer seats as the extra time that the ball would be in the air would have given me time to avoid becoming a victim of a foul ball; a broken bat wouldn't have been a concern 100+ feet away.  What also surprises me is the number of fans doing things other than focusing on the play. (which is the thing they've likely paid big bucks for)  Best, Len.
