Yup - that is my granddaughter on the left, her best friend and my daughter-in-law in the background.  I took about 80 shots at this birthday party,  only two I felt were shareable and this was one of them. Something came through to me with this embrace.

PS: moving the camera to the left or the right was problematic.

Such a happy photograph and day to remember! Tony, she's so beautiful - she's going to be a heart breaker! What lovely friends and young ladies! Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us! :)

Thank you Trisha. Sharing in such a public forum does not come easy. Perhaps it will get easier.   I was motivated by all of the 'bad news' on TV and internet media to show other possibilities.

I understand what you mean - I have a hard time sharing personal photos too. I haven't listened to the news in a while except for local, so I guess ignorance is bliss for me these days. I just find it too depressing at times and have too much going on for it to drain me any more than I already am. Thanks again for sharing - your heart must melt every time you are near her! I know my kids and grandson have that effect on me. :)

There is a far deeper meaning to this photo Tony and I know exactly what you mean.

When I saw this photograph I immediately thought of John Lennon's song 'Imagine'. In it he says:

'....No need for greed or hunger,

a brotherhood of man.

Imagine all the people sharing all the world,

you may say I'm a dreamer

but I'm not the only one.

I hope some day you'll join us

and the world will be as one...'

Great photo and the sentiments that It creates my friend......

I agree with Mike.  Your portraits will be treasured by the people in them long after you are gone.  This is very creative.

Wonderful home picture that seems to have struck a chord with a number of commenters, me among them. The moment glows with natural affection and isn't the least bit cloying or overly sentimental
