Hi Sandra,  Where did you meet up with this gal?  Is this a zoo or in the wild?  Either way, nice image.  You look to be up there close and personal.  You must have chosen to leave the light fairly harsh.  It does give the lion a softer look than if there were lots of contrast.  Nice image.  Larry

Hi Larry- Thanks for the comments. I met this gal at the North Carolina Zoological Park in Asheboro, NC. The animals there are not caged, but are in large open areas. She was the only one in the pride that was awake. There were a lot of trees, so the light was quite dappled as you can see from the light and shadow patterns on her fur as well a the grass.

A magnificent portrait of the queen of beasts.  The contrasts - both textural and tonal - between her fur and the rock structures are most impressive.
